I try not to create new realities. Instead I take familiar elements from our commun visual, social and cultural voacabulary and rearrange them to create a (hopefully) new and surprising connection. The joy (and challenge) is to make sure the emotional reaction doesn’t happen on the page, but rather in the mind of the reader.
